Canada decides D5 “will not harm environment” »
The Canadian Government has reviewed the 2009 assessment of siloxane D5 and concluded that it is not harmful to the environment.
Environment Minister, Peter Kent convened the country’s review board in August 2010, with a mandate to re-examine the assessment and also take into account more recent scientific information. He announced the board’s decision at the end of February 2012.
Tim Maxwell, president of GreenEarth Cleaning said the news represented a gratifying end to Canada’s official conclusion back in 2008 that the D5 silicone used in the GreenEarth Cleaning process does not constitute a danger to human life or health.
He added: “We have always applauded the measured, fact-based approach that Canada has taken on the bioaccumulation issue and are pleased to yet again have science on our side.”
