Future of dry cleaning comes to east Denton County

Lapels Dry Cleaning, an innovative company with headquarters in Hanover, Massachusetts, opened a full-service, environmentally friendly store at 4740 W. University Drive in Prosper on July 28, joining another store in Little Elm that opened July 14, according to a press release.

“We’re extremely excited to bring a sustainable, nontoxic way of dry cleaning clothes to Prosper,” said Chin Modha, who owns and operates Lapels Dry Cleaning of Prosper and Lapels Dry Cleaning of Little Elm with his wife, Sonal, and parents Shashi and Mina Modha. “The initial response to our first location in Little Elm has been wonderful.

“We feel confident that residents in Prosper will also enjoy our dry cleaning services as well as the assurance that their clothes are getting cleaned with a 100 percent environmentally nontoxic cleaning solution.”

The Little Elm location is at 2180 FM423.

Lapels has pioneered its eco-friendly dry cleaning experience over the past dozen years. Part of that effort includes a partnership agreement with GreenEarth, the dry cleaning industry’s only nontoxic cleaning alternative.

Using these kinds of solutions and the latest technology in equipment, Lapels is one of the few dry cleaners able to boast that there is no hazardous waste in their process, the release said.

“Our environmentally friendly cleaning process has no odor and is gentler on clothes, thus lengthening the life of clothes,” said Chin Modha.

Lapels offers its customers “automatic rewards,” earning them credit toward free dry cleaning for every dollar they spend, loyalty programs, a VIP Program that eliminates the need to wait in line, the use of a 24-hour drop-off service, free home delivery and alteration services.

Same-day service is also available with pickup after 5 p.m. Lapels also offers a “car hop” service where customers can drop off and pick up their clothing without leaving their cars.

Hours at both Lapels locations are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit www.mylapels.com.
