During a recent Expanded Support Visit our Technical Team reviewed a solvent cooler coil that plays a vital role in maintaining proper solvent temperature. While the machine itself was still in excellent working order, this particular coil had not been cleaned in several years.
The photo captured during the inspection revealed a buildup of black muck, made up almost entirely of lint and soil. This material had bypassed the button trap and settled onto the coils, where it continued to accumulate over time. While this buildup is not unusual, it highlights the importance of regular coil maintenance.
Why is this cleaning so critical? There are two primary risks:
- Bacteria growth: If water contaminates the system, the lint and soil buildup provides an ideal breeding ground for bacteria, which can cause unpleasant odors in both the machine and the garments it cleans.
- Restricted solvent flow: Heavy buildup on the coils reduces system efficiency, limiting solvent circulation and ultimately impacting cleaning performance inside the wheel.
To keep systems running smoothly, we recommend that Affiliates schedule an Expanded Support Visit yearly. This extended visit allows you to work directly with a GreenEarth technician, ensuring your team gains valuable skills and your plant runs at peak efficiency.
