Tide Dry Cleaners Opens 2 Sites in Little Rock »

Tide Dry Cleaners seeks to operate in a more environmentally friendly manner.

Scott Thibault, president of J&M Foods of Little Rock, has entered into a franchise outside of the familiar gourmet cheese straw and cookie business. He and a partner have opened two Tide Dry Cleaners locations in Little Rock with plans to expand into outlying cities of the metro area.

The two Little Rock locations on Cantrell (3,000 SF) and Kirk (2,100 SF) roads, which opened in April, take advantage of “GreenEarth” technology, using a nontoxic dry cleaning process that replaces petroleum-based chemicals with liquid silicone solvents.

Thibault said the process is safer for clothes and the environment. In addition, the cleaning method is ahead of a 2020 federal mandate for dry cleaners in residential buildings to replace the chemical solvent perchloroethylene, also known as tetrachloroethylene.

The local franchise partner has a goal of growing Tide’s presence in Arkansas with just under 10 locations across the state in the next five years.

Thibault said he is looking at opening locations in Benton, Bryant and Conway and has not dismissed the idea of expanding into northwest Arkansas.

Tide Dry Cleaners is at 523 Kirk Road, Suite 100, and 11211 Cantrell Road, Suite 100.

Both locations are open weekdays from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturdays 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
